What To Expect

Journey Overview

“So that even now, if you went to Africa for a few weeks, and looked at the stars in the high veldt or the real bush and felt the true wilderness, if you knew, really knew, that you could never come again, then it would be something more than a safari. Then it would be the thing that has not happened in the world, the thing that has been going on, that was being saved up, that was drawing itself together and would now be done.” – Ernest Hemingway, The Green Hills of Africa

Best Time to Visit

Tanzania is a vast country with a diverse climate. The long rains occur from March to May, bringing warm temperatures and high humidity. The long dry season runs from June to October, while the short rains, lighter than the long rains, fall in November and December. January and February mark a short dry season, making this another favorable period for travel. The famous wildebeest migration in the Serengeti takes place almost year-round, with its timing closely linked to the rainfall patterns.

Itinerary

Day 1 to 3: Lake Manyara, Tanzania

Arrive at Kilimanjaro Airport and connect to Lake Manyara. Upon landing, you will be welcomed at the airstrip by your &Beyond guide, who will transfer you through the breathtaking Lake Manyara National Park to your luxury lodge. After some light refreshments, embark on an afternoon game drive to encounter the park’s remarkable wildlife and lush landscapes.

You will spend two nights at the Lake Manyara Tree Lodge, where you can explore a rich variety of habitats, from swamps and the serene lake to the escarpment of the Great Rift Valley. Located in the park’s secluded southwestern region, the lodge offers relaxed tracking opportunities of the famous tree-climbing lions and unobstructed views of pelicans, flamingos, and buffalo cooling in the soda lake.

Though you’ll be staying in a mobile tented camp, every detail has been thoughtfully considered, from Persian rugs and chandeliers to a flush toilet. Enjoy exceptional game viewing on twice-daily drives, creating memories that will last a lifetime.
