Nowhere in Africa is wildlife more abundant than the magnificent Masai Mara. Creatures galore roam these sweeping, acacia-dotted plains. And while the Seasonal migration of two million wildebeest, zebra and gazelle crossing from the Serengeti is one of Mother Nature’s greatest spectacles, the profusion of wildlife here – from 450 species of bird to the Big Five– makes it one of the best safari spots year round. It is also home to the Maasai people – traditional pastoralists with a proud, strong culture.
With its high concentration of wildlife, and low tourism density, In Mara Naboisho enjoy exceptional wildlife encounters – day and night. The Conservancy is home to the big cats – in impressive numbers, as well as herds of elephant, giraffe, wildebeest, and so much more.
On arrival at Nairobi’s JKIA {Jomo Kenyatta International Airport} you will be picked and transferred to Wilson Airport to catch a 45-minute flight to Masai Mara. Your Masai guide will meet you at the airstrip and transfer you to your stay camp in Masai Mara. Check in at Basecamp Explorer.
Base Camp Explorer sits on a picturesque bend along the Talek River in one of the most game-rich areas of the Masai Mara Reserve. Enjoy lunch and refreshments. Your late afternoon will be spent exploring the reserve in 4×4 open land cruisers as you marvel at the area’s wildlife and vistas.

You have the option of enjoying morning and afternoon safari activities. Normally the safari activities start at around 6 am – then return mid-morning for lunch and siesta before going out again in the afternoon. The open rolling savannah grassland of the Mara is home to numerous wildlife species including elephant, rhino, lion, cheetah, leopard, hyena, jackal, buffalo, eland, topi, impala, gazelle, warthog and zebra. Wind up your day watching the sunset over Mara plains, with a Basecamp sundowner. At camp, dinner is served in the restaurant, and you will be treated to stories of the bush around the campfire.

Today you head out on a camp walk, visit some of the community projects supported by Basecamp including the Enjoolata Awareness Center where all guests are invited to an exciting learning experience about the Maasai Culture. The Centre houses various facilities including exhibition halls, video editing rooms, a library, the Basecamp Masai Brand workshop all aiming at highlighting the rich blend of the Maasai culture and enhance safari experience for their guests. While here, you are welcome to explore and purchase the products the Maasai Mamas produce. Learn about Basecamp’s reforestation project that is intended to re-wild the Mara. All guests are encouraged to contribute to offsetting their carbon footprint by planting a tree at a minimal fee.

Spend your fourth day at leisure partaking in the camp’s activities. After a hearty breakfast join your guide for a bird walking safari. In the afternoon depart to Leopard Hill, Base Camp Explorer newest camp in Mara Naboisho Conservancy. The camp has an adjustable motorized roof, which provides an unhindered view of the African night sky. Enjoy dinner served at your choice of venue and you can end your day storytelling by your private campfire place. Fall asleep to the sounds of an Africa lion roaring or the cry of a lone hyena.

Wake up at dawn to an array of optional safari activities including morning yoga, early morning and afternoon game drives from the camp as well as short walking safaris, night game drives and sundowners out in the bush. As the camp is situated in a private conservancy the number of camps and vehicles here is strictly limited, offering an exclusive safari experience. During your evening game drive, enjoy the safari ritual of sundowner drinks as the dusk gently deepens around you and the sun sinks slowly over the Mara plains.

Today is your last day on safari enjoy it as you please. Request a massage as you relax or enjoy some downtime while reading a book as you watch out for exciting sightings straight from the camp, so make use of the binoculars provided. Gather your things before heading for lunch. After lunch say your goodbyes and your guide will drive you to the airstrip. Arrive at the airstrip in time to catch your flight to Nairobi for your international departure and the conclusion of your wonderful safari adventure!

Independent suppliers provide most accommodation services and transport where necessary e.g. accommodation facilities located within the parks may cater for your transport at an extra cost (ground package) which is their limited vicinity. (This is considered in your arrangements only when you have had a direct flight to a National Park with no use of any of our vehicles and the only way for the transfers from the airstrip to your hotel room is using the hotel’s vehicles and when having your game drives for the days you will be staying in the hotel unless otherwise). All bookings are subject to the third-party conditions and regulations of these carriers/transport proprietors, accommodation providers and service suppliers.
