What To Expect

Journey Overview

“Now, being in Africa, I was hungry for more of it, the changes of the seasons, the rains with no need to travel, the discomforts that you paid to make it real, the names of the trees, of the small animals, and all the birds, to know the language and have time to be in it and to move slowly.” _ Ernest Hemingway’s, Green Hills of Africa.

DAY 0: ENROUTE

Your adventure begins today as you enplane for Africa.

On your arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, a representative from JABARI will pick you and whisk you off to Arusha where you will spend your night before embarking on your safari the following day.

Arusha also known as “A” Town by the locals, is situated at the foot of Mount Meru, Africa’s 5th highest mountain. The altitude gives the city a pleasant climate and lush green environment. Arusha is not a particularly attractive city in itself and is regarded by many visitors as little more than a necessary stopover before their safari starts in earnest. However, the natural charm of the Tanzanians and the buzz of a fast-growing city mean that Arusha has plenty to offer for those who are prepared to see beyond their air-conditioned safari jeeps and satellite-TV equipped hotel rooms. Check in will be at Elewana Arusha Coffee Lodge where you will spend 1 night in a plantation room with an ensuite bathroom. Your stay will be on Bed & breakfast.

Lying on the gently rolling foothills that cascade down from the ever-present Mount Meru is the bustling and vibrant town of Arusha. It is here on the outskirts of this town, hidden amongst one of Tanzania’s largest coffee plantations, that you will find Arusha Coffee Lodge, a perfect haven for relaxation either before or after any East African safari. Comprising of 30 Plantation Houses that radiate out into the evergreen coffee fields, Arusha Coffee Lodge has been designed around the original landowner’s home that dates back to the 20th century. The theme of coffee permeates throughout Arusha Coffee Lodge, reflecting in the colors and textures of the delightfully comfortable accommodations with beautifully appointed en suite bathrooms.

Your Stay Highlights

  • A walk around the workings of the coffee plantation to see how the coffee is grown, harvested, dried, and produced into the aromatic coffee.

Meal Plan: Bed & Breakfast / Accommodation: Arusha Coffee Lodge or similar

Tuck into leisurely breakfast at your stay lodge and at the sight of the beautiful surrounds of coffee plantation, you will be transferred to arusha airport where you will board a light flight to Tarangire National Park, celebrated for the diversity of its wildlife (which includes tree-snoozing lions), its world-class collection of more than 550 bird species, and its outlandishly towering termite mounds, which may not sound terribly impressive, but are just about guaranteed to elevate termites to the top of any traveler’s pantheon of amazing insects. On arrival a representative of ours from Tree tops will pick you from the airstrip and transfer you to your stay lodge. Check in at Tarangire Treetops which sits serenely on the border of the Tarangire National Park – Tanzania. As you arrive at the Lodge, you are immediately greeted by a blaze of color and a host of smiles all of which belong to the local Maasai tribesmen who have become part of the enchanting story that is Tarangire Treetops.

Centered about a Main Lodge – which itself encases a thousand-year-old baobab tree – Tarangire Treetops comprises of 20 rooms all of which are elevated above the ground affording views over the tops of surrounding marula and baobab trees. Each Treetops Room boasts one of the largest bedrooms to be found in any camp or lodge in East Africa – with a floor space of 65 square meters – and all with an exotic double shower en suite bathroom. With furnishings that create warmth and demonstrate a commitment to local craftsmanship, the ‘up-in-the-air’ experience is completed by the open-fronted room design affording views across the Tarangire plains from an expansive but private balcony.

Meal Plan: Lunch, Dinner & Breakfast/ Accommodation: Acacia Farm Lodge or Similar
