What To Expect

Journey Overview

Such is Africa’s allure: that a bright fellow like Hemingway would lie in his tent, homesick before he’d even parted from a place that had come to seem more like home than home itself. We’re told these days to stick to the now, and the here, but Hemingway—like many of us lovers of Africa—knew that sometimes you can’t micromanage your passions.

All I wanted to do now was get back to Africa. We had not left it, yet, but when I would wake in the night I would lie, listening, homesick for it already.—Ernest Hemingway, Green Hills of Africa

Itinerary

DAY 1: NAIROBI

Upon your arrival at Nairobi. You will be picked at the airport with a meet and greet formality by our representatives. Then later transferred to Nairobi National Park “the world’s only wildlife capital” for an afternoon game drive (Subject to your Flight arrival time). Later proceed to your stay hotel facility. Check in at Ole Sereni Hotel.

Meal Plan: Dinner & Breakfast / Accommodation: Ole Sereni Hotel or Similar

You’ll be picked up by a JABARI safari driver at your designated location and depart the vibrant city of Nairobi for Kenya’s premier safari destination, the world-renowned Masai Mara National Reserve. Celebrated for the annual wildebeest migration and regarded as one of the country’s most sought-after wildlife sanctuaries, the Masai Mara offers unmatched game viewing. Prepare for exceptional wildlife encounters throughout your stay in this remarkable reserve.

Your road transfer will take approximately 5–6 hours, with scheduled stopovers along the way. En route, you’ll pass through the breathtaking Great Rift Valley—a vast system of geographic trenches stretching nearly 7,000 kilometers from Lebanon in Asia to Mozambique in southeastern Africa. You will arrive at your accommodation, Emayian Luxury Tented Camp, in time for a late lunch. Afterward, you’ll have a few hours to relax and refresh before heading out for an evening game drive in the Masai Mara National Reserve.

Upon arrival at the reserve gate, you’ll complete entry formalities with the park authorities by presenting your ID, passport, or resident card, before enjoying a game drive en route to your camp.

Few places in Africa rival the Masai Mara in terms of wildlife abundance. Its sweeping, acacia-studded plains are home to an incredible diversity of animals. While the seasonal migration of over two million wildebeest, zebra, and gazelle crossing from the Serengeti ranks among nature’s greatest spectacles, the reserve’s rich year-round wildlife—including more than 450 bird species and the iconic Big Five—makes it an outstanding safari destination at any time of year. The Masai Mara never fails to impress, offering unforgettable animal encounters, often at remarkably close range—experiences so thrilling they’ll leave you breathless.

Check in at your safari home Acacia Farm Lodge a romantic country lodge nestled in an active mixed farm located on the spectacular Great Rift’s escarpment area with a commanding panoramic view of the amazing Karatu farmlands and the nearby Ngorongoro forest area.

Meal Plan: Lunch, Dinner & BreakfastAccommodation: Acacia Farm Lodge or Similar

After breakfast in this day a cultural visit with the Hadzabe and the Datoga is possible and they will show you how and where they live. One of the oldest tribes in Africa, the Hadzabe have consistently lived a hunter gatherer lifestyle without ever having to resort to farming. The Datoga are skilled farmers and crafts people. They keep goats, sheep, donkeys and chickens.  However, cattle are by far their most important domestic animal. The meat, fat, blood, milk, hide, horns, tendons and dung of every animal have either practical or ritual purposes.

After a morning game drive and breakfast we make a memorable drive west, to the fabled Lost World of the Ngorongoro Crater, a volcanic bowl abounding with life and beauty, unknown to the outside world until 1892 (which helps account for its wealth of wildlife, everything from a burgeoning lion population to fine stands of flamingos). Our lodge,Acacia Farm Lodge is strategically located between the Tarangire and Lake Manyara National Parks on one side and Ngorongoro Crater and Serengeti National Park on the other. This is a perfect base from which to explore these four natural attractions and world heritage sites. Timeless tranquility emanates from the exuberance of birdsong, mature trees and lovely coffee plants. Ngorongoro is one of the world’s largest volcanic calderas, and without a smidgen of doubt its most interesting, not to mention its most lively and lovely; Ngorongoro’s floor, down to which we’ll wend our way for a full-day game drive, is a mesmerizing, eventful place.

We’ll stop by the Olduvai Gorge, a rocky spur of the Rift Valley, where the Leakey family’s discoveries in the last century convinced the scientific world that humanity arose in East Africa. (“It’s a splendid spot, Olduvai Gorge,” Theo Cruz wrote, “but it’s a good thing our ancestors wanted a peek at someplace else.”) Then it’s on to the Serengeti, a vast and fabled plain the great writer and roust about Beryl Markham said was “as warm with life as the waters of a tropic sea.” An incredible wildlife experience in the heart of one of the most beautiful national parks in Africa. The Meliá Serengeti Lodge blends into its natural surroundings without relinquishing the services and facilities of a luxury hotel where we’ll spend three idyllic Serengeti nights.

We end this short, but undeniably spectacular, safari in the Serengeti. “There is a lightening of the spirit,” Cyril Connolly wrote about the vast plain. We’re invited to a rare, deep-rootedly serene idyll. The sky is huge and blue and as pure as the day the earth was born. (And on the southern horizon, over the Crater Highlands— “That’s Ngorongoro, just behind that big green mountain,” we’ll say knowledgeably, affectionately—clouds pile up in grandly crazy towers, looking like computer-generated special effects.) The Serengeti’s kopjes are the creation of a cosmic bonsai master, and on a flat brown rock atop one of them, a lion rolls over and warms its fluffy white belly in the sun.

This marking the end of your safari in Tanzania, after a morning game drive and breakfast you will check out of your stay lodge with an enroute game drive as you proceed for Arusha where you will catch your next destination flight to Uganda. You will be met by our driver guide at the Entebbe airport upon arrival from your long flight and transferred to your hotel to take a rest, later after diner; you will be briefed about the safari Programme.
