Explore the rugged and dusty roads of Tsavo West, one of the few largest preserves in Kenya, where you shall enjoy the authenticity of an African safari firsthand.

Itinerary

Day 0: En Route

Your adventure begins when you enplane for Africa.

On arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, your private guide for the safari will be eagerly waiting to welcome you. He will help you with the luggage as you board your safari vehicle that will whisk you off to your Nairobi hotel. You will be transferred to Daphne Sheldrick elephant orphanage where you shall meet bold and spirited pachyderms, and consort with the resident giraffes at the Giraffe Centre. You will be taken to your stay hotel Nairobi Serena Hotel where you shall spend 2 nights.

Start your day with a delicious breakfast, you will be picked from your Nairobi stay hotel, for an early morning drive to Nairobi National Park, a short drive out of Nairobi’s central business district. Nairobi besides being famed as a bustling city and often being referred to as the best city in Africa, it is well renowned for the wild preserve that sits in the backyard. Enjoy up-close encounters with the animals that call it home. 

Nairobi National Park, wide open grass plains and backdrop of the city scrapers, scattered acacia bush play host to a wide variety of wildlife including the endangered black rhino, lions, leopards, cheetahs, hyenas, buffaloes, giraffes, and a diverse birdlife with over 400 species recorded. Visitors can enjoy the park’s picnic sites, three campsites, and the walking trails for hikers. After the game drive you will be transferred to Carnivore restaurant famed for its gastronomy of game meat. Enjoy a sumptuous meal and relax at leisure before you are transferred to Nairobi National Museum a flagship museum for the National Museums of Kenya, situated at the museum hill approximately 10 minutes’ drive from the Nairobi central business district. The many features and attractions of this museum make your visit day a highlight. The collections exhibited here are based on four themes that are culture, nature, history, and contemporary art. Nairobi National Museum it also houses a curio shop with artifacts and items that can be great souvenirs. Within the Museum, you will also visit the snake park which exhibits different species of reptiles found in the country. Spend the last hour of your visit in the botanical gardens and nature trail. The fresh air and cool shade offered by dozens of trees and flowers will make you appreciate the surroundings. Return to your stay hotel for dinner and overnight.

After breakfast, you shall check out of the hotel for a road transfer that lies ahead of you towards Tsavo West, buckle up it’s a beautiful scenic road if you happen to look around, the road transfer shall take approximately 5 to 6 hours. Tsavo west lies on the southern circuit of Kenya, it is the one of the few largest wildlife preserves and one of the most diverse wildlife regions of Africa throughout the year most of the continents big game animals can be observed here, the wildlife reserve is especially renowned for its extensive lion population whose ancestors were vilified more than a 100 years ago as the maneaters of Tsavo. With more than 100 different types of mammals the biodiversity here can be overwhelming. On arrival you shall check in at Kilaguni Serena Safari Lodge where you shall spend 2 nights on a full board meal plan.

Superbly situated in the lee of Mount Kilimanjaro and sheltered by the volcanic splendor of the Chyulu Hills, this classic stone-built lodge overlooks its own water hole, which is visited daily by elephants, buffalos and a wide variety of plains game. Being one of the first lodges ever to be built in a national park, the lodge is cool, tranquil and hushed for optimum game-viewing, photography and painting. It is also ideally placed for visits to all the park’s prime attractions.at 16:00hrs you will proceed for an afternoon game viewing drive in the park. The park is home to the Big Five animals and birdlife is abundant as more than 600 species of bird have been recorded.

Full day in Tsavo with morning and afternoon game viewing drives at 06:00hrs and 16:00hrs respectively.  The Park offers some of the most magnificent game viewing in the world with large herds of dusty-red elephants, hippopotamus, giant crocodiles, black rhinoceros and African buffalos.

Other animals commonly seen in the park are the zebra, the antelopes and gazelles, the mongoose, the hyrax, the dik-dik and the lesser kudu. Birdlife is abundant as more than 600 species of bird have been recorded.  Some of the interesting areas to be visited are the Mzima springs, Roaring rocks, Chaimu and Shetani Lava sites to only to mention but a few.  On one of the afternoons, you will be hosted to a Sundowner within the park. This evening enjoy a Sundowner Cocktail at a location within the park as you mesmerize at the breathtaking view of the Tsavo and the African sun as it sets!

Enjoy hearty breakfast at the lodge. You will check-out and depart for Amboseli National Park with game viewing en-route to arrive at your next stay lodge, Amboseli Serena Safari Lodge for check-in and in time for lunch. Set against the magnificent backdrop of Africa’s highest mountain, the glittering Mount Kilimanjaro, the lodge enjoys a uniquely privileged position at the heart of this world-famous national park.

Lunch in the lodge followed by an afternoon at leisure to relax and soak-in magnificent views of the park from your room Veranda/Lounge or enjoy a swim in the lodge’s swimming pool. 16:00hrs Enjoy afternoon game-viewing drive in the park.   Amboseli is one of the most popular destinations for safari-goers to Kenya, as it offers some spectacular views of the highest free-standing mountain in the world – Mount Kilimanjaro.   Elephant are a dominant presence in Amboseli; they are tracked almost constantly by researchers thus; the reason they have largely escaped the ravages of 1980s poaching. Here, you are able to spot some of the older “tuskers” lumbering almost delicately before the backdrop of Mt. Kilimanjaro. 18:00hrs Drive back to the lodge in time to refresh for dinner.

After breakfast in the lodge, you will depart for Nairobi City to arrive at Nairobi Serena Hotel in time for lunch in the Café Maghreb Restaurant compliment of Serena Hotels.  Later our diver will transfer you to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport for your home bound flight.
