Start your day with a mouthwatering breakfast, you shall be transferred to Entebbe International airport where you shall board a scheduled flight to Bwindi (Kihihi Airstrip). Bwindi Impenetrable is an ancient rain forest, extending over a series of steep ridges in the Virunga Volcanoes Mountain range. Its impenetrable nature, is due to the dense growth of herbs, vines and shrubs that covers the valley floors, making it an ideal habitat for the mountain gorilla. Declared a World Heritage Site due to its ecological uniqueness and natural beauty, the forest is home to roughly half of the world’s total gorilla population. With terrain that varies from swamp and bamboo forest to dense thicket, this beautiful area poses both challenges and rewards for anyone interested in an intimate glimpse of the life of these fascinating primates.

On arrival at Kihihi airstrip, a representative of ours from your next stay camp shall pick and transfer you to Sanctuary Gorilla Forest Camp where you shall spend 3 nights in a private luxury tent with an ensuite bathroom.

Enjoy an afternoon walk to visit the local Batwa people, this activity involves a three-hour walk followed by about an hour spent with the Batwa. The walk back to camp is two hours. The visit includes a music performance, visitation by the goddess, hunting and gathering demonstration and an opportunity to see how they live. The Twa tribe who are also known as the Batwa are the oldest inhabitants of the Great Lakes region of Central Africa. Return back to your stay camp for dinner and overnight.

Tuck in a hearty breakfast overlooking the majestic mist covered slope of the mountain. Soak up the anticipation as the guide briefs and the trekkers get ready then follow in the light steps of your nimble porter as the rainforest folds in around you. Stop and take it all in; the sounds, the smells and the astonishing scenery. Feel the rush of excitement as those dim shapes and faint sounds become actual living, breathing, free gorillas. Savour every moment of your exhilarating encounter with the great apes. After a treacherous walk in the rain forest your return shall be welcoming. Sink into a comfortable seat in front of a crackling fireplace and recount every highlight of the experience with your companions. As eyelids grow heavy, update your bucket list and sleep like a baby.

Beyond the gorillas, Bwindi boasts 350 birds, 120 mammals, 310 butterflies, 200 trees, and 51 reptiles. Outside of the forest, community walks provide insight into the lives of the Bakinga and Batwa people who previously inhabited the forest. After your breakfast, you shall head out on guided nature walks in the dense rainforest in search of other inhabitants which range from the rare forest elephants, giant forest hogs and eleven kinds of primates, such as red tailed and blue monkeys, black and white colobus, baboons and chimpanzees. Return to the camp for dinner and overnight.

Extra Activity during your stay: (subject to request)

While staying at Gorilla Forest Camp guests are able to venture out on game drives to Ishasha, located in the south of the well-known Queen Elizabeth National Park popular for its tree climbing lions, savanna elephants, buffaloes, topi, hippos, various bird species, warthogs and the occasional leopard.

Start you last day with a scrumptious breakfast which will be followed by a road transfer in a shared camp vehicle to Kihihi airstrip which is 1hr 15 minutes away.
